How to obtain medical insurance

Information is provided on a national and state basis. Most national resources will direct you to your local state organizations.

Individual with or without dependent(s)

There are resources available, if you are not earning health insurance through an employer. We have listed insurance companies, membership organizations, and unions and guilds where you can obtain an individual health plan.

There are also resources available, if you cannot afford to purchase an individual health plan. We have listed government programs and consumer organizations which provide health care coverage options.

Small Business Group

Small business groups with two to 50 employees can purchase group health insurance for their employees. A one-person business may also be considered a small business by insurance companies, government agencies, and membership organizations.

We have listed insurance companies, membership associations and purchasing co-ops where you can purchase insurance for your employees.

In some states, government-subsidized programs may also assist small business groups.
